Eclipsed
Though India wasn't prime viewing territory for this morning's annular eclipse of the sun, the event probably got more attention there than anywhere else in the world. That's because of the Hindu myth that anyone who takes a dip in the Sannehit and Brahm Sarovars (water tanks) at Kurukshetra in northern India during a solar eclipse will attain salvation. Apparently there's no fine print in the myth limiting the salvation to total eclipses. The BBC has posted a collection of amateur eclipse photos, and though clouds obscured the view for science correspondent Pallab Ghosh, correspondent Sue Nelson managed to see it and file a video report.
