A long way from the swamp
Alligators take to the air
We all know you can't take nail clippers on airplanes. But alligators are allowed, even though one flying alligator escaped its container and wandered around the cargo hold on a flight from Miami to Newark yesterday. The 5-foot-long "juvenile" was still in its burlap bag and still had its mouth duct-taped shut when Port Authority emergency crews captured it, returned it to the crate it shared with three other alligators, and then returned all four to their owners. Whether they traveled from there to Manhattan by cab, bus, train, or limo, somehow they made it to New York and checked into the Marriott Marquis Hotel, by which time they had been magically transformed (probably by sloppy reporting) into three alligators and two crocodiles. However many of them there were, authorities discovered that the reptiles had no permit to be transported to New York, so police took them into custody.
And why did the alligators (and possibly crocodiles) travel to New York in the first place? To be on television, of course, specifically the ESPN morning show, "Cold Pizza."
