Kiss that overtime pay goodbye
Even though both houses of Congress voted again and again to preserve the right to overtime pay for overtime work for those workers still entitled to it, the Bush administration has now gone ahead and changed the regulations governing overtime pay. Without a vote (other than those against the changes), without a hearing, and without considering the impact that pay cut will have on millions of American workers, the Bush Labor Department simply rewrote the rules.
Today the news media were all over the story as if they'd just discovered it: maybe that's because journalists are among those now exempt from overtime pay.
If you agree with the Bush administration's decision to require workers to put in extra hours for no extra pay, then just do nothing -- the new rules went into effect today. If you'd rather not do extra work for nothing, you might want to vote for someone other than Bush (or Nader) in November.
