Little birdie
It's hard to get the birds to hold still to have their pictures taken, but this one was so busy singing she hardly noticed me:

The queen is back in town
With much less fanfare this time, the Queen Mary 2 has now made her second arrival in New York, where her neighbors-for-a-day include the Prinsendam, the Carnival Legend, and the usual assortment of other craft in and above the water.

Overtime battle moves to the House
The Senate has acted to protect overtime pay for overtime work -- now it's on to the House of Representatives. Write your congressional representative today and insist that she or he support the House version of the Harkin Amendment.

Senate votes (again) to protect overtime pay!!!
The U.S. Senate has just voted 52-47 to protect overtime pay. Let's hope it makes a difference this time: last year both the Senate and House voted repeatedly to protect overtime pay, but the Bush administration took no notice.

Yet another overtime vote
"Lipstick on a pig" -- that's Sen. Tom Harkin's response to the Bush administration's cosmetic changes to its radical rewrite of labor regulations that will deny overtime pay to millions of American workers, UNLESS your senators and mine vote for the Harkin amendment to protect overtime protection in the vote scheduled for tomorrow.
